Africa Mineral Ventures Push to Get Sakubva Stadium Cleared for PSL Matches
New Manica Diamonds owners Africa Mineral Ventures are pushing to get Sakubva Stadium approved to host Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League games, aiming to bring top-flight football back to Mutare.
The mining-backed group took over the Mutare-based club recently and has promised investment in both the team and community infrastructure.
Upgrading Sakubva Stadium is seen as key to reconnecting the club with its local fanbase.
As of April 23, workers and Mutare City Council had completed renovations on the stadium’s toilets and dressing rooms to meet required standards.
The Zimbabwe Football Association’s First Instance Board and the PSL will inspect the facility on April 24.
Manica Diamonds have been playing home games at Greenfuel Arena in Chisumbanje, about 220km from Mutare, since Sakubva failed previous inspections. The distance has cut off many local supporters.
Meanwhile, Manica Diamonds will host PSL newcomers Hardrock FC at Greenfuel Arena on Saturday, April 26, regardless of Thursday’s inspection outcome.
Nicknamed the Gem Boys, Manica Diamonds are still searching for their first win of the 2026 season.
They sit bottom of the PSL table with one point from eight games.
Africa Mineral Ventures said stadium upgrades are part of a wider plan to revive the club after the takeover.
